I've stayed at the Riverside a number of times and it is one of my favorite places to vacation to. The rooms are well-prepared, clean, and comfortable. The common spaces are wonderful for long games and movie nights. The kitchen is well-tooled. The view to the river is so peaceful. Additionally, the Amish market just down the road meant we got fresh produce for our meals! I look forward to my next visit already!

We were attending the WVU commencement in Morgantown, WV and found this charming inn less than an hour outside of Morgantown. Plenty of room for a large extended family with 13 people. The host was very communicative and willing to help in whatever we needed. We even were able to use the 1st floor owner's apartment during our stay, which made it even more comfortable for the grandparents. It's great to find older properties like this that have been restored and revitalized by their owners. The porch was very nice, and we had a great view of the river. Highly recommended!
My extended family group (ranging from my 86 YO mom to my 3 young grandchildren) of 13 people spent a week at the Riverside in June 2025. This historic structure has benefited from significant refurbishment and is modernized in all the right places without losing its original character. The location is close to other attractions such as Deep Creek Lake, Wisp, and Swallow Falls that gave us good options for day trips or excursions. Being located right on the Yough river was a big plus too as my family loved jumping in with our tubes and floating down the river to the takeout at the Friendsville Park - very fun ! Last but not least, our time at the Riverside was made even better by Brigit's level of support and service. For example, one of the window air conditioners malfunctioned on our first night and Brigit had it replaced the very next day. Anything else we needed was handled immediately. We have stayed in VRBO houses all up and down the east coast and have never witnessed the level of communication and service that Brigit provided. In summary, the house is well remodeled and clean, the area provides many things for families to do and Brigit's communication and service is absolutely wonderful.

We have great Wi-Fi, and streaming TV in the parlour. Bathrooms are stocked with soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and soaking salts for the outdoor adventurers. Enjoy our fresh bed and bath linens. Our kitchen has a gas range, convection oven, crock pot, dishwasher, coffee maker (regular or Keurig), pots, pans, and all the basics. Email innkeeper Brigit with specific questions or needs.

We have six spaces, but arrangements can be made if you need more.

Where are you?

Riverside is on the banks of the Youghiogheny, 15 minutes down the highway from Deep Creek/Wisp. We're in a mountainous area, about 10 degrees cooler than the mainland, which is why we don't have AC on our first floor. It's pretty cool all summer, with windows open for the river breeze. About Riverside

Riverside is a family-owned vacation rental, dedicated to providing guests with a peaceful retreat to renew, relax, and gather together. There's plenty to do, but our family enjoys how easy the house and grounds make it to be in each other's company. It's a comfortable and homey place, where hours can go by unnoticed as you sit on the porch and watch the sparkling water. For more about the Flannerys, who bought Riverside in 2021,  visit the Innkeeper's page.

Great place for photos!

Strolling Water Street, going up the big hill for a panoramic view, or walking down to the bridge, you'll capture amazing shots.

Bring your Merlin and iNaturalist apps to identify the flora and fauna of Garrett County. See the Activities page for information about birding, hikes, kayaking, and more.

There's a rustic fire pit in the backyard and local stores sell firewood. It makes a wonderful evening activity. There are lightweight chairs on the back porch, to make sitting around the fire comfortable.
